HEMORRHOIDS

Hemorrhoids are engorged veins in the rectum and around the anus. The main risk factors for their occurrence are obesity and a low fiber diet. In the female population they often occur during pregnancy and after childbirth. Hemorrhoids are a widespread problem that affects the majority of the population in a certain period in their lives. Problems occur due to swelling of veins in the soft tissue around the anus and the lower part of the rectum. Knots around the anus are known as external hemorrhoids, knots in the rectum are internal hemorrhoids. Internal hemorrhoids that prolapse through the anus can be particularly painful. Hemorrhoids often cause bleeding, pain, itching and discomfort. These symptoms usually occur periodically and the condition in itself is not severe, but it is certainly uncomfortable.

To achieve optimum results, easing of hemorrhoid symptoms must begin as soon as they occur. Otherwise, treatment may be longer and more painful. Success of treatment can be greatly improved by adopting a change of lifestyle, a healthy fibre rich diet, more exercise and drinking more water.

Red Orange Complex® – ROC®:

Red oranges are typical Mediterranean fruits with remarkably healthy effects on human body. Scientific findings suggested that ROC can be considered as a new ingredient to maintain epithelium and body health and to improve appearance and well-being.

Red orange complex is standardized powder obtained from the juice of three pigmented varieties of Sicilian blood orange, that exclusively grow in a particular area surrounding the Mount Etna volcano in Sicily.

As demonstrated by several clinical studies, ROC intake is able to counteract the oxidative stress, even in subjects with compromised antioxidant capacities, such as smokers, policemen, diabetics and air pollution exposed subjects. The extract intake efficacy has been evaluated through monitoring specific oxidative stress plasma biomarkers.

In vitro studies supported the use of ROC to counteract cutaneous damage generated by UV exposure. Clinical study proved that ROC oral supplementation was able to counteract skin hyperpigmentation and improve the homogeneity of the skin.

In conclusion, oral supplementation with ROC, has beneficial effect on the skin, other epithelial tissues and the body in general. Its antioxidative and epithelial protecting ingredients can have positive impact on existing hemorrhoids and guard the veins against their occurrence. The extract is also rich in flavonoids, active ingredients known to contribute to the elimination of the symptoms of acute hemorrhoids.

Calcium and flavonoids:
It has been shown that calcium and flavonoids contribute to the elimination of the symptoms of acute hemorrhoids. In a clinical study, the positive effects on most of the symptoms observed already after two days of use. After four weeks treatment with calcium completely eliminate the symptoms of acute hemorrhoids in 76% of users, treatment with flavonoids while 73% of users.

Witch hazel:
Studies have reached by that witch hazel beneficial effect on hemorrhoids, skin ulcers and eczema. The main active ingredients of witch hazel are tannins and essential oils that act as astringent. It has been proven that the witch hazel beneficial effect on blood vessels and anti-inflammatory.
